Suppose your company’s ability to set the service standard depended on you first setting the standard as an individual. What would you do? You might begin by identifying the standard setter. This is the person who does your job better than anyone else in any other company.
Discovering the standard in sports is usually pretty easy. A person like Jack Nicklaus comes to mind. What about business? Who are the superstars of customer service, accounting, or computer programming? If you found them, how would you compare?
